5 Gratitude Exercises That Can Change Your Life

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow

Feeling grateful is one thing, but being able to appreciate and express it is whole another thing! Gratitude can change your life in the most unexpected ways- it's ironical how little things in life can create wonders.

Here we present you with a list of gratitude exercise you can do to lead a better life-

1. Gratitude Journal

Maintaining a gratitude journal is one of the proven ways to make your life better. Everyone has their share of good days and bad days, but everyone has one or the other reason to be thankful for every single day- be it for the clothes that we wear, for the meal we eat, for the people who have never given up on us.

Maintaining a journal and writing what you are grateful for every day can make your life so much better, and you will soon be able to appreciate every little thing in life.

2. The What-went Well Exercise

Developing a positive attitude or finding the good in bad can help you deal with any situation no matter how worse it is. When you are having a rough day which makes you think "Can my day get any worse?", a day when nothing seems alright, a day when you absolutely want to hush the world and be left alone, think to yourself that "It's actually good it happened!" Everything does happen a reason.

So without giving up, find the reason for your bad day! When you can successfully connect the dots, you'll eventually take control of your day!

3. Write a Gratitude Letter/Express your gratitude

With postal letters and postcards being replaced by messaging apps and other forms of technologies, we can't argue to the fact that the intensity of the communication has decreased. What's the use of feeling grateful when you don't express it anyway? Make a habit of sending personal notes to the people whom you are grateful for and letting them know that they are appreciated.

You can always pick occasions like birthdays, thanksgivings or any other festivals and replace store-bought gifts with personal thank you notes.

4. Gratitude walk

In today's fast-moving world, when everyone is hustling and being busy, how often do we come across people who actually take a break, slow down, and appreciate little things in life?

Take a slow walk, preferably, without any of your electronic gadgets, and actually observe your surrounding, your neighbourhood, the Universe.
It takes less than an hour to realize how beautiful nature is, and no sooner will you begin to appreciate your own existence in such an inspiringly beautiful world.

5. Gratitude Reflection

Spend at least 10-15 minutes every day in absolute silence to reflect on your day. As simple as it may sound, it's definitely not easy to shut the world and focus on your thoughts. Shun all the thoughts away and reach a state of total awareness of yourself.

List down the reasons that made you feel grateful even if it's a small thing. Following this daily will help you focus on little things and help you feel good about everything.

Why wait? Start these exercises now, take it up as a challenge, and witness your life marvel!
